As you head into San Antonio, the subtle, vertical sign outside of Boulevard hints at a small bar, maybe more of a pub, nothing too fancy. It would be quite easy to miss actually, as there’s a cement divider in the centre of the road and only a couple of parking spaces out the front. Even as you take your first glance through the dusty doorways to spy a few old blokes sitting at the bar and a crusty old pool table, it really doesn’t seem enticing at all.

But that’s where the magic of Boulevard comes into it. Only those with a sense of adventure, with the good sense to poke their noses past the dated front room will be rewarded with what is the best venue in San Antonio, bar none!

To the left of the main room is a huge double door, and behind that door is a magical playground of glam, Moroccan style daybeds, floor cushions, Balinese style tables, Bedouin tented rooftops, an outdoor water feature and colourful cushions, and of course, the obligatory DJ booth. It’s a little bit like the Narnia of San Antonio!

The ideal venue for an after party, Boulevard is famous for hosting some legendary parties in the past - we can only hope that the new opening hours laws in 2008 don’t hinder it. While the venue is open every night, it’s one-off parties that are the real stars of this show - keep your ears to the ground as only very clever in-the-know local promoters tend to use the venue - it’s one of San Antonio’s best kept secrets!
