The sunset café that originally brought worldwide fame to San Antonio, Café Del Mar - which opened in the summer of 1980 - remains an institution to this day.

With a front row seat to the world’s most beautiful sunset on offer every day of the year, the cherub and cloud encrusted bar, sheathed in flowing white curtains and covered sails is like an oasis in the surrounds of San Antonio, and was the birth of chillout music as we know it.

Ambient, relaxed and mood-inspiring as you watch the sunset, it has spawned the famous CD series that can be found in almost every bar across the world. Originally sold as a mix tape behind the bar, it’s now almost more iconic than the bar itself - but not quite!
