Quantum Yoga

If you get bored with repetitive routines, don’t fancy being stuck inside a studio and want to practice with an instructor who understands the nature of the Ibiza lifestyle, Quantum Yoga could be the answer to your yogic prayers.

Instructor Lara Baumann – who developed the Quantum method through modern science, quantum physics and the ancient wisdom of yoga - will take you through a series of free-flowing postures, tailored to suit your physical, mental and emotional needs.

What we love most about Lara (apart from watching her amazing yoga skills) is her ability to switch back and forth from wise yoga guru to just another one of your mates on the island – one minute pronouncing the traditional Sanskrit names of the asanas (poses) whilst balancing in seemingly impossible poses and the next telling the stories behind the poses with a cheeky laugh (when you’re explaining how a monkey took a giant step forward into a new land or the symbolic explanation of the King Pigeon, it seems a bit of tongue-in-cheek is required) and suggesting you go for an ice cream after the class.

If you can’t get to Lara’s classes regularly (or if your holiday time is up and you’re heading home), she’s also produced a series of three CDs so you can practice at home, combined with music and healing sounds to help ease you into your practice. The latest CD, Lotus Mandala is perfectly suited to the Ibiza lifestyle as it is the first ever ‘techno-chill’ yoga CD – produced with none other than Sven Vath, Bushwacka! and Rob Marmot.

WHEN TO GO: We love the morning drop-in classes on the terrace at Macao on the Rocks by the sea at stunning Es Codolar beach (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am til 12pm at a cost of 20€, including breakfast afterwards – what a way to start the day. Evening classes are held at Casa Parawdiso in Santa Gertrudis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8pm and private classes with instructor Lara can also be arranged.
